Chez Karine Macarons

CHEZ KARINE BAKERY

Hmm.. Looks good, but does it taste good?

MAPLE BACON
Well, that's one of a kind!

 MINT CHOCOLATE

EARL GREY
I cried when I took a bite. Despite all of those air bubbles, it CRUNCHED like a crunchy cookie. Crrrsshhhhkkkkk!

LEMON

DARK CHOCOLATE
We asked them how old these macarons.... And the guy said around 5-7 days old. Mrrrrrrrp

Looks good, but didn't taste good.
I had to stop because it wasn't worth eating, and my sister thought so too. :(

KATHLEEN'S MACARON CRITERIA:

Shell 2/10
It should be smooth and delicate, slightly crispy but not crunchy- fragile like eggshells, it should also be somehow flat and not dome-shaped with no air bubbles nor air pockets. Technically, excessive coloring is a no-no. (Smooth. But not delicate nor fragile. I actually tried to slam it on the plate. Nope, no cracks at all. It was toooooooo crunchy. Mrrp. Shape was ok!)

Filling & Flavor 4/10
F&F should be smooth, light and distinctly flavorful. It shouldn't be too sweet or sour as well. Melt in the mouth texture is also a plus! (I'd give the Maple Bacon a plus, but the rest are just ok)

Aesthetics 6/10
Shape and size of the macaron, feet and filling ratio (It was alright, physically)

Value 2/10
We all know that macarons aren't easy to do, (and maybe there are even more guidelines that I've yet to read about) so you're technically paying for the labor of the macaron maker. Accept it, pay, then judge if it was worth the money you paid with. (Errrrrrrr...... Bizu's macarons were better in comparison.... But still....)

Php 55 / piece
Php 385 / box of 7
Php 850 / box of 14
Php 1,200 / box of 21
