Alchemy Macarons

Notice that I haven't been blogging consistently..? I was busy with school since my 2nd sem sched was kind of hectic. (an average of 8am - 6pm schedule everyday... what!) It's my summer now so I have more free time to do my own things, so I'm blogging about my past macaron (and other) adventures now! :) Here's my take on Alchemy macarons.

So how did I get to find Alchemy? There was a time that I was really dozing off in my Anatomy-Physiology class that I had to read up on something to stay awake. I don't remember why but I ended up searching for the "best macarons in Manila" and I stumbled upon Couch Wasabi's "Manila's Macaron Mania" post and decided right there and then that I would order a box for myself.

They had quite a lot of flavors to choose from:

Regular flavors: Salted caramel, peanut caramel, chai spice, banana walnut
Premium flavors: Green tea, coffee caramel, raspberry, passion fruit, dark chocolate and mint chocolate.

I immediately texted them and ordered a box of 8 (P285): Salted caramel, chai spice, banana walnut, green tea, coffee caramel, raspberry,  dark chocolate and mint chocolate. I ordered around 4pm and I scheduled my pick-up at 7pm, perfect! (On the way home from school)

I love their packaging!! (It's my favorite colooooor)

And I love their cute macaron colors and flavors

Here's their green tea macaron.

The only downside was this. :( (But hey it didn't happen on the other macarons)

Their green tea was good!!!

And I'll just run through with the other flavors:
 DARK CHOCOLATE

 RASPBERRY

 SALTED CARAMEL
I kind of think that Alchemy's filling is the best one I've tasted locally. (TWG is exempted!)

 MINT CHOCOLATE

 BANANA WALNUT
(this was my favorite)

 CHAI
(another favorite! I didn't even have a picture of it bitten.. I was too busy devouring it and forgot about taking a photo. Oops!)

KATHLEEN'S MACARON CRITERIA:

Shell 7/10
It should be smooth and delicate, slightly crispy but not crunchy- fragile like eggshells, it should also be somehow flat and not dome-shaped with no air bubbles nor air pockets. Technically, excessive coloring is a no-no. (Just that little flappy accident, and I guess it could've been a little smoother but it was ok!)

Filling & Flavor 8/10
F&F should be smooth, light and distinctly flavorful. It shouldn't be too sweet or sour as well. Melt in the mouth texture is also a plus!

Aesthetics 810
Shape and size of the macaron, feet and filling ratio

Value 10/10
We all know that macarons aren't easy to do, (and maybe there are even more guidelines that I've yet to read about) so you're technically paying for the labor of the macaron maker. Accept it, pay, then judge if it was worth the money you paid with.
