Paul Lafayet Macarons II

Mom just got home from HK and brought home some.......

M  A  C  A  R  O  N  S   ❤️   ❤️   ❤️

PAUL LAFAYET
[View my previous post about Paul Lafayet Macarons here]

AAAHHHHH the packaging is is pretty (but it was actually hard to open) *shining eyes* I am so ready to attack these macarons

OK attacking in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

A  T  T  A  C  K  !  !  !

PISTACHIO

ROSE
I think it was too candy colored though, but nevertheless, it was good :)

PASSIONFRUIT

SESAME

VANILLA

(I really can't tell which flavor this was. I'll get back to this when I find out)

MATCHA
Mom bought 2 matcha macarons.. I think she thinks I like matcha most. It was good though

CARAMEL
My little brother liked this very much and although I dislike caramel, this one was surprisingly light. (I think Paul Lafayet's caramel macaron tasted less intense than that of Pierre Hermé's.)

CHOCOLATE
I honestly think Paul Lafayet heard my complaint in my previous post. (hahahajk) but really, I think this was a good batch :)

JASMINE
!!! I honestly thought this was just Vanilla but when I attacked it...... JASMINE!!! I didn't know Paul Lafayet had Jasmine macarons. Well, the box came in with a list of flavors (with pictures) and in the picture, the Jasmine macaron was shiny - quite like Pierre Hermé's (click here for reference) but it came out just.. plain white, but nevertheless, it tasted great!

GINGERBREAD
Well this is just a guess since it wasn't on the flyer flavor thing that came with the box. It cracked right away upon biting into it and I was going to complain about it to my brother but then.. I tasted Christmas.. Like legit Christmas.. Spicy, (but not the chili kind of spicy, more like cinnamon-y spicy) ginger-y and sweet all at the same time - and it instantly made me happy (and I instantly forgot about the part where the macaron was falling apart! Hahaha)

KATHLEEN'S MACARON CRITERIA:

Shell 9/10
It should be smooth and delicate, slightly crispy but not crunchy- fragile like eggshells, it should also be somehow flat and not dome-shaped with no air bubbles nor air pockets. Technically, excessive coloring is a no-no.

Filling & Flavor 8/10
F&F should be smooth, light and distinctly flavorful. It shouldn't be too sweet or sour as well. Melt in the mouth texture is also a plus!

Aesthetics 8/10
Shape and size of the macaron, feet and filling ratio

Value 9/10
We all know that macarons aren't easy to do, (and maybe there are even more guidelines that I've yet to read about) so you're technically paying for the labor of the macaron maker. Accept it, pay, then judge if it was worth the money you paid with.

Bizu Macarons II

So last Friday, my brother, sister and I decided to eat dinner in Rambla followed by Grace Park for dessert (Which was beside Bizu btw) So I bought macarons. LOL every chance I have, I take.

And finally I get to really decide what Bizu is to me. (I used to like it so much because it's the only one that I've tasted before)

And I realized so much after this day!! :\

DARK CHOCOLATE
It used to be my favorite. (Not anymore)

HAZELNUT AND WHITE TRUFFLE
I could taste the white truffle but not the hazelnut

LIME

PISTACHIO
When I said that it was intensely chewy and a bit hard to bite (in my previous post), I guess it was the normal consistency for Bizu's Pistachio macarons :((((((( huuhuhuh sad..

ROSE LYCHEE

EARL GREY

BLUEBERRY
-.-

Giant air bubble
I feel so cheated on :(( hahahahjk..

KATHLEEN'S MACARON CRITERIA:

Shell 5/10
It should be smooth and delicate, slightly crispy but not crunchy- fragile like eggshells, it should also be somehow flat and not dome-shaped with no air bubbles nor air pockets. Technically, excessive coloring is a no-no. (air pockets + softness + delicate-ness.... :( I like the colors though ahha)

Filling & Flavor 5/10
F&F should be smooth, light and distinctly flavorful. It shouldn't be too sweet or sour as well. Melt in the mouth texture is also a plus! (Some didn't taste like the said flavor)

Aesthetics 7/10
Shape and size of the macaron, feet and filling ratio (It was okay, physically speaking.. without biting into it..)

Value 6/10
We all know that macarons aren't easy to do, (and maybe there are even more guidelines that I've yet to read about) so you're technically paying for the labor of the macaron maker. Accept it, pay, then judge if it was worth the money you paid with. (Ok..)

Back then, I only looked for these two flavors-

 CHOCOLATE

PISTACHIO

I guess that's why they're the only ones I had solo pictures of. -.-
